What can I do (if anything) to improve video quality?

I am using Vegas Pro 2017. When I play an mp4 file on WIndows Media the video looks substantially better than when I see it on Vegas Pro 2017 through the Preview window or the Trimmer window when cast to a 24" diagonal monitor through my Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 card.

Is there any way I can set up Vegas Pro 2017 to improve video quality?

What are the preview settings set to? Above the preview screen is where you change that. Compare "Preview (Auto)" to "Best (Full)", for example.
