And why??
I am using a Yamaha CRW-F1 and am happy with it, so far.
But the new Plexwriter Premium is getting some god reviews.
Any experience on those two? Or other good quality CD-R's?
LiteOn - writes OK but odd progress-meter updating behaviour (only when mouse moved !) , and toakes ~20 seconds to recognise drive in CDA5. Does not always recognise "blank media loaded" in XP Explorer writing mode.
Plextor Premium - does everything great, and you can test your results ! I'm getting another.
For 'scrap' stuff I use generic cheapo media, and for serious Mitsui and SKC.
I have an F1, and two Plextor Premiums. Plextor is still the king of CD burners, bar none. The Premium drives are so good that you can error check with them, and the software that is enclosed is top notch.
The other thing about Plextor drives is that they are optimised for audio.
I've had about a dozen different Plextors over the years, and none has made me regret the extra cash spent.
Incidentally the 708A dvd writer is miles ahead in quality to anything else as well.
The F1 is also a great drive, but commitment from Yamaha is nil, as they have stopped making optical products. I have never been convinced about the audio master mode myself.
I'm a Plextor supported as well. I have 7-Plextor 8/20's and one 8/2/20 and one 24/10/42. I did recently purchase a DVD burner, which is a Pioneer, since the Plextor was a little outside my budget at that time.
Hello Geoff,
Could you please post a link as to where I can find the Plextor Premium drive that you are using. I would like to learn more and possibly invest in the same drive that you are using.
Thanks,
Kevin

Is there a way to use the audio master mode, inside of CDA5??
Anyway, the prices on the Premium are allready dropping, so in the near future the Samsung is going and Plextor coming.
