what codec instead of MJPEG???

Up to now i was using MJPEG codec to seamlessly transfer files between my window and mac machines. Since i got a new computer with Vista i noticed that the codec options are limited and the only JPEG codec offered is Photo JPEG. I was wondering if there is any suggestion for a high quality (Motion JPEG was virtually loosless) codec that i could use that would work both for mac and PC. ANd if not how can i install the Motion JPEG codec?

You are rendering to a Quicktime MOV file, yes? Did you install Quicktime Pro on the Vista machine?

Amen to that, for many reasons.

And the cross platform Sheervideo is great, get a 20-day eval. for free and try it for yourself.

Note that you only need to buy the codec for the rendering machine, as the reader is free.

The Cineform codecs are I think now available for both PC and Mac. The one licence lets you install on both platforms and 1 licence covers three seats.

cineform works only on intel based macs.

Regarding Cineform, I believe the "one license for both PC and Mac" is only if you have Neo HD / 2K or Prospect HD / 2K (i.e., $$) - you only get platform with Neo HDV. It costs $299 US to upgrade from Neo HDV to Neo HD.

Probably right, we use Prospect2K, nice, glad I didn't pay for it, although it's a bit cheaper since they released the 4K version.

well cineform could never resolve properly chroma pulldown produced from hv20 (shot in 24p) mode and it always generated interlaced progressive files (interlacing being only where there was a strong red chroma present). So no i'm not even considering cineform.

Sheervideo solves also all the other issues between PC & Mac, and PPC is supported.
