I'm in the market for a new drive. I need an external one though. I'm looking into the Plextor drives now. Not sure what I'm gonna roll with.

Do you want your writer to include the following for future use:
1. DVD
2. Dual layer

Definately, My optirite is a Multi-Drive and it is nice to be able to handle the dual layer for archiving.

Then just get any reputable-brand DL DVD/CD writer. If you want the spcific CD testing capabilities of the Plex_prem you are stuck with needing a separate DVD writer.
