What is - and how to fix - Error 59

Using Vegas Pro 16 for several years. Suddenly cannot open files and receive Error 59; "An error occurred starting VEGAS Pro. There is no license to use this software". Have used this licensed program for several years, and it worked well. Can't open the editor or see my projects. How do I fix this?
