What is considered "A-Stock"

I just purchased the Academic version of Vegas Video + DVD 4.0, and saw a post regarding a $50 rebate, and free upgrade to Version 5.0. On the Website, it says that only A-Stock is eligible for the rebate. Anyone know what A-Stock is?

I would assume "A-stock" refers to product selling at/near full MSRP as opposed to a substantial academic discount. They probably figure the adademic version is such a good deal you don't deserve a rebate. But, that's a guess on my part...
