What is the Safe Title Grid?

Ok, in a previous post, a response suggested that "Its worth using the safe title grid just to be sure you critical titles and images aren't chopped- "

What is the safe title grid? How do I use it? I cant seem to find it at all, and I notice that when I encode to mpeg 2 and play it on my dvd player, it chops off the top and bottom of the image. Would this help?

Won't help your mpeg problem. Title safe area is set as a percentage in your options, you can make it visible by clicking the button right above the preview window.

It's just so titles don't go off the screen on some TV sets.

Any ideas on how to help the mpeg problem? By problem I'm referring to the bottom and top of the screen getting cut off. Should I use a project setting of 4:3, then then render at 480x480, or should I have the project set at 480x480 also? Will it still playback normally on a svcd?
