What is your procedure for editing?

Howdy,
Most of the time my editing process goes something like this:
Capture, drag all clips to timeline, split clips as needed and drag to an upper track to assemble later. Of course when I'm through I have all these little clips strung across a (sometimes) 1 to 2 hour timeline. I've been grouping them a little closer by "select events to end" and then drag to the front of the timeline repeatedly which can take quite some time...surely there's a better way right? I was hoping Excalibur would somehow do this but of course it won't (unsplit) unless they are from the same clip. Any suggestions on a better way of doing this?
TIA,
Randy

Use Excalibur's Gap Wizard instead, and it will pile 'em up all together at the beginning of the timeline, or wherever you put a command marker (C).

I don't know how you guys put up with me...how could I overlook "Gap Wizard"?
Jet, I couldn't find the "Extract Good Clips" tool...but hey, that doesn't surprise me.
Thanks very much for you guys' efforts and patience.

1. Turn on Auto Ripple, and make sure you have it set to affect all tracks.
2. To interchange events, right-click on an even and drag it to a new location. When you let go of the mouse button, you'll get a pop-up menu. Select Shufle.

John, I sometimes use auto-ripple and I tried using it on this procedure but when you pull it up to another track, nothing ripples.
Thanks Jet I'll check it out (even though I don't understand at this point how it could be any faster than Gap Wizard).
Thanks again guys,
Randy
