What Monitor Do YOU Use???

Some people think that if they drive a BMW they're better drivers. ;-)

BTW, the generator I used for testing cost almost $1,500... why I rented it instead of buying it. And I do know how to use it. How many TV's have you built GG?

The number of controls has nothing to do with setting proper luminance or chrominance levels. While some controls may make it easier, in the wrong hands, more to mess up.

Or I could just say I can do things others can't. I think most have figured that out already. ROTFLMAO!

Again GG confirms he's a legend in his own mind. Next thing he going to tell us he invented television, just like he tried to claim credit for something Satish developed. Maybe he thinks we forgot that little misadventure.

Heck GG is always so up tight and full of himself, he can't even get a little joke. One thing for sure, I got his number and know how to make him jump. He keeps asking how high.

Oh... I was an accountant back in the 80's. This is 2003 GG.

You are right about one thing, I have ZERO respect for blowhards, regardless what field they're in.

The itworks products look interesting. I'm thinking either the NTSC CD or the Calibug you pointed out.

Is there a way to direct the images out through 1394 so I can use my ADVC-100 to drive the patterns to a monitor? I'm going to have my monitor connected this way to use with Vegas anyway.

Lots of pollution in this thread, people can't seem to behave.

Fascinating thread. I see SPOT as the consummate professional and our resident genius. I see Billy Boy as the populist. He's out for the little guy (even though it sounds like he's well set and could afford just about anything).

So tonight I think I'll be a communist. You know, Thesis, Antithesis, and finally Synthesis! On my budget Billy Boy's the Man! However, if that budget ever miraculously gets bigger, then I will definitely consider the higher-end monitor arguments.

Hey Paul... wait a minute, the IRS may be reading this. ;-)

I too think SPOT is great. I think in my 'old age' I'm making up for the hippie I wasn't in the 60's. You're right that I'm a little tight with money. Maybe I should offer my services to Arnold and move to Kalifornia.

>Lots of pollution in this thread, people can't seem to behave.

It would be nice if you had posted that in response to some other part of the thread, rather than after my request for a bit of real information.

I was trying to keep my post in a context, within the thread, where it made sense (asking a another question in response to SPOT's answer to my earlier question?) Now there is more noise and not even in response to the previous noise.

Try to put your comments in a place where they make sense.

Paul, I've never consumed a professional, I resent that! I only consume beginners and wanna-bees!
Seriously, for MOST work, Billyboy is right, you can use a low end monitor IF it offers enough tweak-ability. I don't agree a 99.00 monitor can do it, but most mid-range televisions can. But, for a professional job, going to broadcast, you can bet your butt that it's going to be air-checked either in-house or by a standards group that certifies product for air. And if you are off by much, it won't go. Standards are relaxing, and many local b'casts aren't even checked. Witness the late-night car commercials with illegal colors and buzzy audio that's a result of bright whites in the picture.

SPOT, i know what you mean. Most of the local commercials in my area trash my TV completely. They end up being grey screens with a faint wavy b&w negative image and the sound is mostly static. It hardly induces me to go buy their furniture or eat in their restaurant! I can't even capture them with a SONY A/V -> DV converter. Oddly enough, they do play fine on a Commodore 1702 monitor. It makes me wonder what the station used (if anything) to check them.

I`ve try vidcap40 can TV-out when capture (really s-video line out to my TV from my video card)
So I think VV really can TV-out,
We hope Sony can tell us !!

Yikes!! Why did you resurrect this thread?

I was reading the posts and then got a strong sense of deja vu.

So, after a careful scan, I finally noticed your post that was the one that brought it back.

It doesn't quite make real sense to me, but you seem to be saying you plan to monitor with the S-Video output from some video card. Go ahead if you want to, but if you read the recent posts and maybe even some in this thread, it is a bad idea.

Did I just respond to some kind of weird troll?

Jeeps, I'm sorry. Hoping I'm the last fool who responds into this thread and it soon fades back into oblivion.
