What Next?

So here is the question. When my 30 days of free TMPG encoder expire, what will I do then?

A. Hope the MC encoder update is released soon and works as well.

B. Format my hard drive and start from scratch only to do it 30 days later.

C. Search high and low for a cracked version of the TMPG encoder (I'd never do that...It's piracy!!!)

D. Settle for less than spectacular renders and blocky pixelation on my VCD's

E. (Post your answer here)

Option F is unavailable because the TMPG encoder is not available for purchase as of today.

What will you do?

The real issue seems to be your overly high expatiations of what's possible for VCD's and in that term I include VCD, XVCD, and SVCD formats. There are tricks to using TMPG. I posted some in the Video Factory forum over the past year. I'll assume you already know about http://www.vcdhelp.com. The main problem with buring VCD's is low bitrates. You can only do so much.

Almost immediately right out of the box I tried the MC encoder that comes with VV3 and found it better than the Ligos version. I also found it equal to, perhaps better than TMPG. Depends. There are lots of variables. Mostly your source file and what you do... or don't do in the way of "improving" your video.

Block Noise? What block noise? Unless I try to crawl into the screen (like view it from less than a foot away) there isn't any. If you mean block noise that is visible regardless how far away you view or even in 'no action' scenes, the fault almost always in the source file or in something YOU did in trying to "improve" the video.
