I'm a newbie and have created a symbol on my video track and don't remember how or what it's indicating to me. Please help.

Between each icons (or each frame if zoomed) on the video track I have a symbol something like this '/\/\/\/\'. Their not on every scene just a small section. Can anyone tell me what it means, what did I do to get it, and how to I eliminate/reverse?

Thanks

If you are talking about a "/WWWWW\" over an event on the timeline, that means the clip was either stretched to make it slower or faster. If you didn't intend to do this, I don't know how to undo it. Even if you stretch it back to it's original speed, it will still show those wavy lines, so you won't be able to tell if it was corrected or not. In this case, it would be better to delete the clip and put it on the timeline again.

You have changed the playback speed (faster or slower) by Ctrl/dragging one of the edges.

There is no easy way to return it to its original speed (that I know). You just have to do the same operation until the squiggles go away, or bring the media in from scratch.

Actually, the wavy lines do go away when the event is dragged to its original length.

To return the clip to normal speed, right-mouse-button click on it, choose properties, and set the playback rate to 1.000. Unfortunately this won't change the length of the event on the timeline. However, you can trim it to the correct length and it will snap to the right length when the cursor gets close enough. There will also be a little triangle notch on the top edge of the clip at the correct end point.

Chienworks,

Thanks for the tip on resetting the speed.
The notch and snapping part only work if you are using the event up to the end of the orginal media though.
