Been trying to visit the "CreativeCow.net" website. . . on different computers, no less. It's as if it no longer exists (although it's still registered per www.networksolutions.com). I find "Creative Cow" to be a wealth of information regarding video recording/editing, etc.
My news server was down for two solid days, then today my ISP was down till a couple hours ago. S... happens. DOS attacks are getting more common and more nasty.
*whew*. Three words for them .... "backup, backup, backup".
If my server got so trashed that i had to reformat and start from scratch, i could probably have it back online in less than two hours. Then it would take about 6 hours to restore all the web pages and datafiles from backup. Good backups make this a smoother operation. I've had to do this a few times so i can certainly empathize. :(
The eventual goal is redundant servers so that i can just change an IP address in an emergency and be back online in a few moments.
I didn't copy the entire message. Apparently there have also been problems between their server and their ISP as well. They are actually now in the process of moving to a new ISP.
