what's wrong with sound?

I have a 4 meg avi file that I am playing from the time line and outputting through a firewire port to a Canopus ADvc100 through a vcr to a tv. I want to record this file to the vcr but I am not getting any sound. Video is fine when I click external monitor. What am I doing wrong? How do I record this file to a vcr?

Are you printing to tape? Or are you just playing the file on the timeline? You'll only get sound through the firewire port when you do a print to tape operation. You can do this from the Tools menu or from the VidCap program.
