What size is NTSC dv ???

i was always under the impression that NTSC was 720 x 480, however, when clicking through the properties on Vegas , i noticed there is NTSC DV(720 x 480) and NTSC standard 720 x 486 ???
whats the deal??

NTSC standard for Digital Video at broadcast quality is 720 x 486. DV, as in DV cams and Digital 8 is 720 x480.
