Sounds like you've changed your "ruler" so that it no longer starts at "0". Move to the beginning of the timeline, right-click the ruler, choose "Set Time at Cursor...", enter 0, and then see how it works.

BTW, mine always says "Fade Offset" when adjusting the fade.

Excellent call. Exactly right.

I moved timecode "0" to the beginning of a region which is 2 sec and 8 frames to the right of the timeline's start.

Now, then I pull a fade it adds the 2:08 to the length of the fade, making it confusing as to how long the fade actually is.

Now that I know what's happening, I can can calculate the true fade length in my head...which is a pain.

And you are correct: I never noticed that it always says "Fade Offset" when indicating the length of fades.

I just don't know why Vegas cares if the time code's zero point is other than the beginning of the timeline.
