Where can I find books, etc...

Ok, I'm posting this for a new member that had his first post Hi-jacked a day or two ago!

The original poster was looking for more information about using Vegas, and some books and DVD's that are out there to help him get started with Vegas.

Someone mentioned some DVD's, and a book by DSE?

Thank you,
Jon

PS: (If you tell him to read the manuel, I'm going to sick BB on you)!

Hiyah Stiffy!

I spoke with a London Vegas USer on Sunday, who is presently working through DSE's DVDs - he's delighted with them. I understnad from reading on various forums that DSE's book is being "shipped" but this you will need to confirm with the publication house in question.

You might wanna put up a post here about "DSEs DVDs" and see what the response is like.

Good to hear from you,

Grazie

Thanks, Grazie for the reply!

I was just looking for his book on Amazon.com, but I can't seem to find it. (Now, I know how to gamble in Las Vegas though)!

Do you have any links that I can order DSE's book?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Jon - Go see the DMN Forum:

http://www.dmnforums.com/cgi-bin/disp.fcgi?dire=4&prog=displaywwugindex.fcgi&endday=14&forum=sonic-foundry_vegas

and put in the words "DSE" and "BOOK" in the search. Lot's there to see and consider . . .about ordering? Read this and decide - yeah?

I have Douglas Spotted Eagle’s DVDVegas 4.0 Editing Workshop” and it is outstanding. I highly recommend it. It will take you from the basics and show you how to set the preferences to get a good workflow and how to use both video and audio features. Just watching him work will give you a lot of clues on how to be productive. This isn’t just someone demoing the program, this is DSE’s tool of choice and he shows you how to be productive using it. Like I said, I highly recommend it. You can read Jeffery Fisher’s review or Edward Troxel’s review and see what they think.

DSE’s Book Vegas 4 Editing Workshop is just about to ship. Douglas has told us that the book covers some different material so you may want own both. I have it on order. I just checked Amazon.com and found it using the search words “vegas eagle”. ;-)

BTW, Tell your friend that it’s OK to post here. We don’t bite, although everyone has their “grumpy” days. (maybe its all the rain we've been having lately)

Gary Kleiner also has a set of DVDs called Vegas Video Editing:.

Both Gary's and DSE's are very good and highly recommended - especially for the new user. While they both touch on many of the same topics, they compliment each other very well and there is very little duplication of information between the two sets. I haven't yet had an opportunity to see DSE's book but expect it to be very good as well. My understanding is that it is now shipping.

Thanks for the replies!...I'm not sure who the original poster was, but I hope this information helps him!

(The original message was from someone with a good question, but the forum took a different path)!
