If you know anyone who can loan you the additional CD supplied with Ulead Video Studio, SF's Video Factory, or Magix' Music & Video Studio, there are many royalty-free clips on those discs.

Just an aside from a working professional.
Why should you expect to get professional footage for free?
A flower opening shot takes a lot of work, planning and time to produce.
Why wouldn't you expect to pay for it?
If you go to a doctor and he looks into your throat for 30 seconds, tells you you've got cold, you still expect to pay him.
Same with your accountant, garage mechanic or local hot dog stand.
The only way that beautiful footage can even exist, is if someone pays for it.
So why should you expect it for free?
This is not a harrangue, just a point of view from someone who regularly makes beautiful footage, and also, regularly wonders how our kid's college education is going to be funded.

Vicmilt,

Beautiful essay..
but please learn to read CAREFULLY.. if you read CAREFULLY my previous msg you will see that I said "I'm willing to pay" .. This would mean that I WILL PAY and do not expect for free.. I just need very few footages and dont need unecessary footages of planes and people and other stuff and I'm not in a position to pay 500$US for something I dont want!! I just needed a waterfall and 2 or 3 flower scenes..

I suggest that you learn to read carefully and think twice b4 posting such msgs.

Besides, UNLIKE you .. there are MANY things that are free in this world. There are people (definitely not you) who believe in helping each other. That's why there are soooooooo many freewares ... (Satish is one of the greatest) these people spend hours and hours just to create a free software to make others happy.. I don't believe in charging people ridiculously... If the price is reasonable and if I NEED the WHOLE package then definitely I would pay the price.

I was sure that in the web there would be a place where someone would be creating few footages for people to share for free AND I WAS RIGHT!!! I found many footages for FREE.. I understand that you do this for living but dont get upset when someone else does it for free. I also started doing some footages for snow and rain effect and I WILL let people have it for free!!

Thanks to everyone else who gave useful infomations..

Cheers

Not to point fingers, but you did request free video in your 2nd post, and vicmilt makes a good point. Most (all?) of the high quality stock footage costs $$$. Taking a good shot is more difficult then most people think. I know where you're comming from though. There's been many times when I've thought "If only I had a 5 second clips of..."

You could always go and shoot your own footage. I've done it using my own Hi-8 camera here just south of Buffalo, NY. Since you're in Montreal you must have some beautiful scenery up there, much better then down here.

But if you really did belive in using lots of free things, how come you use Vegas? Why not AVISynth or VirtualDub? At one time or another, you had to buy it, correct (not saying you didn't)? That must of at least cost $400, unless you got the educational version. If that's so, then I don't need any further explination as to why you think the footage should be free. I was in college not long ago. I know how college students think. :) I used to think the same way. Then, after I starting making my own work, I grew up and starting realizing how much work goes into the simplest things.

ps: i do video work as a living too.

Hi Happy Friar,

answers to your questions..

1- Now all we see is dead trees and snow in montreal

2- Vegas is the best user friendly soft out there (my opinion) and WORTH the price

4- I'm not a student, I graduated as engineer 2 yrs ago.. and I don't belive that EVERYTHING should be free but believe in taking advantage of whats free.. (If something can be found for free why pay??? does that make sense to go and buy a printer at one store when another store gives some discount or has some special give aways??? believe me anything could happen thats why we communicate in newsgroups!! If I can't find and If there are no other ways then I will pay. Its a free country and I really dont think that asking people if there are places to get these sort of things for free is a crime..

I really don't see the point of all these useless msgs accusing me of asking for some information... Is asking for information such as "is there any place i can get free stuff " is wrong????? if it can't be found then all i want is "no " as answer.. or if its possible "yes"... thats all.... why all these posts wasting my time and your time????

Listen I really don't wanna argue with anyone here... I just come to share info thats all and I really like this newsgroup... If you have any useful information please post but please stop going back and forth on this issue...

Sorry everyone for this post as I had to make things clear.
Thanks to all others for your informations!! helped a lot!!

WinVideo, I think you are out of line here. Not because you ask where you can get something for nothing; that is OK, even though you should have said so in your first post instead of just calling upon "Any professionals here" and saying nothing about the real nature of your question.

What I react to is your attitude: When vicmilt asked you in a very friendly way why you wanted it for free, you gave him an unfriendly answer and hid behind very small remark in your third post, that you were willing to pay a little. Vicmilt was in his full right to be puzzled because you were sailing under a false flag, giving the impression that you were looking for a professional solution.

You could have ignored him, or you could have given him a straight, polite answer. The answer you gave is not the kind of posts that contribute to make this forum what it is. And it's not the kind of post that makes people want to help you out in the future.

Salut Marquat,

Finally someone who thinks I didn't commit a crime by asking innocent question.. I know most people in here are nice and VERY helpful.. No matter where we go there are always bad apples so I try to ignore but these msgs were very offending for some reason. People who really have sooooooooo much time to go back and forth into each msgs and trying to prove something that will get nowhere..and make others waste their time.. I really dont see the point..

Anyhow I do not want to extend this issue.. I'm sure many people agree with my point of view..

Merci beaucoup Marquat pour ton commentaire ;)
A un de ces jours ...

Hey WinVidéo
you can get free *****abstract***** backgrounds at www.mainconcept.com. They release 5 or 6 of them every month (a little like the 8-packs for music (Acid)). You can , afterwhile, play and transform those as you wish by switching colors, using blur, grain, etc...
I know, I know, you'relooking for "real" pictures but I'm still telling you so you can furbish your bank of images a little bit more as time goes on. Who knows, maybe you'll use them one day...

Un gros salut de la part d'un voisin du plateau mont-royal là, hahaha! ;)
