Which Audio Software To Install??

Hi! I just bought Vegas 4.0 to begin making videos. For my purposes I'll be adding voice-over and music to the video. Which of the audio recording software bundled w/ Vegas (AcidPro 4 and Sound Forge 6) should I install and which would be repetative or unnecessary? Also, what is the purpose of After Effects? Is it for basic editing/video production or for those with more complex video requirements?

THANKS!!!! I really appreciate it!

Acid and Sound Forge are totally separate products. You may simply have the demos (especially if you're looking at the Vegas CD)

Sound Forge, Acid, and Vegas are all three very unique components of the Sony creative suite. Sound Forge is what you'll want for editing audio. It's a very in-depth editor. Acid is for creating royalty free background music, or music for your band, etc. based on loop music creation.

Vegas isn't "bundled" with Acid or Sound Forge. You may have limited trial demos on some sample CD. Vegas alone has many included audio tools. If all you're doing is ADDING and not major editing either the voice overs or music, then Vegas may be all you need. Click on any audio track, click the FX button in the header, then the SECOND FX button that appears once you open the default 3 FX filters to see a whole bunch more audio FX filters. Vegas records on its own. You need to arm BOTH the audio track and the main timeline plus of course have a audio card or built-in audio support on your MB and speakers /mike.

After Effects from Adobe is one of several third party applications that can do specialized things. If you're just starting out trying to lean something as complex as After Effects or Boris (another one) is probably biting off more than you can chew. Spend a month or two getting comfortable with Vegas first and you'll be surprised how much it can do all by itself.

You have all the tools you need to do Audio work. (VEGAS) If you remember VEGAS AUDIO was a complete Audio Multitracker. VEGAS VIDEO was also on the market as an NLE. So essentially what you have with the current version of VEGAS is both. Therefore you really don't need another program for Audio work. Although SoundForge has been a staple in many studios for mastering your final. ACID is more so a place to get your ideas together. I would never finish a project in ACID but some people do. So it all depends on your workflow and what makes you feel more comfortable.
