which codec to use?? ripping dvd's

remembering that I did have a choice when ripping a dvd as to what codec to use, apparently I used the wrong one. Can you help? Which codec should I use when ripping dvd to avi to use on Vegas 5? I'm using Immtoo DVD ripper

For codecs for AVI in Vegas, you can use uncompressed, which has no loss but is HUGE, or DV, which I like. Very good quality. I'm not sure if Vegas will support any other kinds of AVI.
