Which format when going to mpeg2

HI folks;
Just wondering if this will make any difference. I just finished editing a 1h45m wedding video, renderded it to avi(so I can print a copy to my Sony PD-150 to keep on file for future use.) My question is before I render again to mpg2 for dvd copies should I use the MS3 .vf file or is it better to use the .avi file and clean out the hard drive of the MS3 files? Also is this the normal way to do things. Render once for the camera and than again for the dvd? Or am I creating extra work for myself?

Thank you in advance.
Ralph

It will be quicker to render to MPEG2 using the AVI files. If you use the original project .vf, it will re-apply all the FX, transitions, menus, etc. and it will slow down your MPEG2 render. By using the AVI files, it just has to render direct from AVI to MPEG2, which will be faster.

It sounds like you’ve got the right workflow. Render the final project to AVI. Print the AVI to tape, then render the AVI to MPEG2 for DVD authoring.
