I am converting some vhs tapes to dvd. I am capturing it through my digital camera which gives me 720x480. The vhs tape does not have the horizontal resolution to match this. My question is how to export this to fit 3 hours on the dvd. Should I export it as 720x480 with whatever bit rate will make it fit 3 hours and hope that mpeg is smart enough to somehow realize this is not high resolution and use the bandwidth smartly or should I export as 352x480 and depend on vegas to subsample the video smartly?
