Which setting is best.

Hi,

I live in PAL land and I'm on ver. 7, and in my properties setting I can choose different presets on 'pixel aspect ratio'. I can f.ex. choose 1.0926 (PAL DV) or just 1.0000 (square). Which setting is best or 'most default' to use at normal DV footage captured inside Vegas?

If I choose the 'PAL DV' setting I get a thin black line in both left and right side - If I choose 'square' it looks like the picture is squeezed a bid, but it does not look bad.

Which setting should I use?

Use the PAL DV setting. If you're using a Canon cam (or a few other models from other manufacturers), you might see the thin black line that is there for masking a fringe on the edges. Some cams do this, others don't. For broadcast work, this isn't visible due to overscan, the bezel also hides it on virtually all systems. If it *really* bothers you, you can either use Pan/Crop, or a unique resampling plug from Pixelan that fixes this for you.

A good community of an NLE is absolutely a great asset to the company, and must be for Sony too..

One last question to the topic ;-)

When I use the PAL DV setting, I don't get the thin black lines on my output monitor, but on my PC, if I play the DVD there.
How is it with flatscreen / LCD TV's. Will Iget them there, or do they cut a bid arround too?
