Which Version

I did not see a reference to to this question. Which one of the Video editing software has multi audio track editing. I use OBS to record videos and a single video could have multiple audio tracks (such as my voice as one source and sound effects as another). I was wondering if this was only offered in one version or all of them?

All versions (ever since Sonic Foundry's Vegas 1.0, which didn't have video at all). Movie Studio had a lower track count as I recall. Otherwise, VP's track count is unlimited.. only limited by your hardware.

Are you looking for multitrack audio editing or for multichannel audio import or for multichannel audio export? These are all different pairs of shoes.

Would export be to have the video created after editing have the same amount of tracks as going in? But I was referring to editing purposes. I have a file that has multiple audio tracks that would be nice to edit. My current software (powerdirector) only imports the first track so everything is together and I can not adjust the voices with out effecting everything.

So it is 1 video file with up to 4 audio tracks going into editing.

"So it is 1 video file with up to 4 audio tracks going into editing."

It actually depends on certain file properties then (while in general multichannel export isn't supported by Movie Studio).

There are some types of surround sound files which multichannel import is supported both in the Movie Studio softwares and Vegas Pro softwares while pure multichannel (e.g. multichannel Wave files) import is supported in the Vegas Pro versions only (Vegas Pro Edit, Vegas Pro, Vegas Pro Suite).

But chances are there are certain file types where not even Vegas Pro would import multi channel audio. So you would need to be very precise which kind of multichannel audio file type it is. Best would be to share a sample file.

To Cornico, if that is all from one file then yes it would be.

As for file type, when my recording is done it is put into an MP4 file type, but I can change what it comes out as in the recording software. I was looking at the Vegas Pro versions. Then main question was does the multi audio track editing come in all the versions of pro or just the really expensive one.

It does sound like the Pro Edit does come with it though. It also sounds like it will work for what I need it for.

Actually there is no difference in the core software of Vegas Pro. "Edit" and "Suite" just define less or more packaged items. So if Vegas Pro do import the multiple channels of your MP4 files, you will be fine with Vegas Pro Edit version.
