I am looking to buy a new camera soon and have 2 questions.
1.) Does AVCHD or MOV work better with VMS Plat 11.
2.) 720 30p format is not in the Blu-ray spec, so would I be better off getting a camera
with 720 60p, which is in the spec, or will the 720 30p be converted efficiently to 60p?
MOV is not a single video type, but a format that can include any of hundreds of possible codecs -- most of which aren't supported well by video editing software.
The ideal format for editing is the DV-AVI, video captured over Firewire from a tape-based miniDV camcorder.
Next best is HDV, video captured over Firewire from a tape-based HDV camcorder.
Then AVCHD, video downloaded with the Device Explorer from an AVCHD camcorder running at either 1440x1080 or 1920x1080.
This assumes, of course, that the project's properties are set to work with these particular video formats.
60p and 50p are only supported in 1280x720 and not in full AVCHD. In fact, you're best off sticking with interlaced 60i and 50i (which means the same thing as 30i and 25i, since interlacing means that each frame is created in two passes).
