I guess the whole world DOES revolve aroung the US! :)

only the stock market I think. Everybody else gets movies/most video games sooner. :)

"Anybody know what time we can start downloading??"

I'm going to wait until either I receive the upgrade discount code via e-mail or someone posts it here on the forum. I'm incredibly anxious to get Version 8, but I'm also willing to wait to save some cash.

Note that the following links also work:

http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/vegaspro80_enu.exe
http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/dvdarchitectpro45_enu.exe

Now we just have to be able to get the serial numbers to install the non-trial versions.

Here are the manuals.

So it looks like the DVD Architect installer is slightly larger than the past version. Probably the new templates?

But the Vegas 8 installer is dramaticly smaller. Almost half the size. I wonder what could be the cause of that? Could it be a ground-up rebuild for the 64bit gained cleaned out a bunch of old code? Or removal of the media manager? Or...?

It works:)

I just installed the trial. I didn't even need to reboot.... though perhaps I should.

I look forward to digging into it tomorrow when I am more awake.

Keep in mind that if you install "vegaspro80_enu.exe" it will not run without a valid serial number. If you install the trial version instead, you can run it without a serial number.

I have to admit I'm thrilled that Sony would release a major new upgrade like this for a paltry $135; I would've paid double that... glad to see a customer-friendly attitude from Sony; that builds customer loyalty! The titler improvement alone would've been worth double that to me. Thanks, Sony.

It speaks very highly of them, that they would do this for us loyal Vegas users. I'm impressed. Even if all the stuff we want isn't in this release; for them to make it available for such an inexpensive price is a very noble thing of them to do, in my opinion. Character counts!

We'll see what happens, and as always, with feedback from us this next month here, which is important, they can make bugfixes etc in an 8.0b release later this year. Looking forward to seeing what they've done with Vegas!

(for $135, "no whining allowed" lol)

1:37 PM Pacific time for my copy of the low price via email. Much better than prior releases! The trial version is pretty great, I can't wait to have the full product in hand.

I'm so thrilled about this new release I'm going to post recommendations on all the forums I'm on, and recommend it in my emails to my house lists ... it's really an event worth celebrating... after 3 years of whining, we finally got a superb titler....

Great job guys, thanks a million. I mean it. Ya 'all done good.
