Why are my transitions defaulting to Iris???

A few weeks ago I added a transition to a clip, set the type to "Iris", then customized it to be a diamond with a pink feathered border, etc. etc.

I don't know if I did anything special, but ever since then, when I overlap two clips to create an automatic cross-fade, the transition often (possibly every time, though not sure) defaults to this customized pink diamond Iris. I don't want this - I want the simple cross-dissolve to remain default. Somehow, that got goofed up

There must be a setting somewhere that I'm missing. Anyone know?

Thanks much!

When you go to the plugin chooser Transitions you can toggle a 'treeview'. When click on the Help questionmark and click on the treeview, it says 'displays the folders in their hierarchy'. So my guess is in yours, Iris somehow got the top spot in that hierarchy. Maybe, if you delete it (or better: move it to a lower spot), your prblem will be solved.

I think all you need to do is right click on the transition to get the popup, highlight transition and left click change to crossfade or dissolve or whatever you want

another thing to keep in mind is that if you change the "transition" for any clip I believe that association stays with that clip till you change it back again and the beginning and the end of the clip are treated seperately. so if you change to dissolve on the beginning of a clip, move it around and put it someplace else and bump it up to a totally different clip at the beginning - that same dissolve will be there
