Why does it keep letterboxing?

I have made a number of slideshows using VV and DVDA and have never had an aspect ratio problem. I always used the NTSC DV widescreen option and render to NTSC DV 16x9. I just recently made a new slideshow using the same options, but it keeps letterboxing. When I play it on my DVD player it has black bars on the top and bottom. I tested some of my old slideshows to make sure my DVD player wasn't acting up, but it displays them fine.

Maintain aspect ratio is on. What settings do I have to utilize to get this to work right? I want it to be widescreen....

Isn't 16x9 material supposed to have black bars on top and bottom when viewed on a standard 4:3 screen?

1> Is the DVD player set up correct? Most have aspect settings for what ratio tv/monitor you will play them on - 4:3, 4:3 pan and scan, 16:9. If your DVD player is set for 4:3 than any 16:9 material will be letterboxed by the DVD player.

2> 16:9 material rendered to a 4:3 ratio will be auto letterboxed on render if you have the settings that way. So, for example, if you have a 16:9 project with 16:9 material and you render out using a 4:3 template *and* you leave the "Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox)" unchecked you will end up with a letterboxed 4:3 image.
