What am I doing wrong in this picture?

Using Vegas5 trial on Windows xp Intel 3.2 Ghz

Avi info from virtualbub info screen:

Loaded an 1.3 gb *.avi in Vegas. Chopped about 1 minute off the end. Then selected to render to `quicktime':

What is going on here?
