Why does this forum disappear for me alone?

Hey y'all,
Occasionally I can go to any website except this one (I get the old "Page cannot be displayed") like the last 3 hours I've been trying to get here. I always figured it was just a fluke before because no one else here had mentioned it like they do when the site is actually down. So, does any one know what could cause this....a morning without this forum is like a morning without coffee for me!!!
TIA,
Randy

That's because it was down for the past few hours. If you look at the "Last Post Date" you will notice there is a gap of about 5 hours or so this morning.

Thought I was alone, glad someone asked. This happens at least once a week for me and have wondered if it was isolated.

It always seems to happen on a Sunday. Perhaps Sony does it's updates then?

I couldn't get here through my desktop shortcut yesterday. So I figured I'd try through the backdoor via sony.com. Well, even sony.com was down yesterday. At least today it was up when the forum was down.
I don't remember SoFo being down this often.

Perhaps they're not aware of the problem....maybe if everyone whined about it like me, we'd get the problem resolved : )

I've experienced this problem, the inability to access specific sites, and finally concluded that its caused by some kind of weird interaction between your ISP and your computer. I was able to solve the problem in one instance,, by un- and re-installing the ISP, but it doesn't seem to always work. To demo how weird a problem it is, the computer I'm currently on cant access a credit card site I frequently have to access, but I can go to a different computer in my home, using the same isp, and no problem It's not a problem with encryption settings or anything like that. Did a fairly long search on the web a while back, and found that lots of people have this problem, but nobody had any answers. Everybody involved just passes the buck, so I've never been able to figure out what's happening. It could just possibly be some kind of virus problem, though the online computer scans offered by Symantec and McAfee say there's no problem. If anybody out there has any line on this strangeness, and how to resolve it, please post it here. I've been on the net for about 3 years now, and have only recently been experiencing this problem, currently with one specific site-(citibank, a huge entity that's gotta have its software working, or people wouldn't do business with them). This thing can drive you nuts if you absolutely have to get into a specific site and cant. It also may be an OS issue. The computer I cant access the site from runs win98se, and the one that works uses win2000 pro. Any ideas about this ?

I find that when this happens if I dump the connection and come back online about 95% of the time everything works fine but don't know why. My modems are different models of US robotics.

I just had lot of difficulty to log in (progress bar that stops in the middle then freezes there).
I don't know how come neither...
