Why is my picture not clearer?

I record DV with my Panasonic AG DVC 30, mini DV.
I have noticed when I render a DVD on my computer, that the outcome quality is not a sharp as when I render on a different computer. What is the main cause of that? I can only imagine it's the video card. What are the minimum requirements not to loose quality in the render or burning process? Or is it the firewire card?
My video card is onboard:
- Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
- Pixel Shader 2.0, DirectX 9.0
- Max. shared memory 224MB

Thanks!

Hello Martin:

You indicate you are making a DVD. Can you post your render settings and indicate whether you are using DVD-A to author the DVD. That may help others better address your question.

It sounds as if you have VMS installed on two computers. If you are using the same render settings from one computer to another and buring the DVD in the same manner, then it is reasonable to assume that the output should be the same.

If you haven't already done so, you could place the same project, media, etc. on each computer and do a render with the same settings. Then check the file particulars using MediaInfo (http://download.cnet.com/MediaInfo/3000-2169_4-10413046.html?tag=mncol;1). Would the files be the same? Hmmmm. Don't really know without trying this.

You did not indicate whether you are:

1) playing the DVDs made on different computers on the same TV and the appearance is different, or
2) playing those DVDs on different computers and the appearance is different.

I would not expect a DVD to appear the same on different computers unless the computers were identical. And sometimes you may think you have identical computers on the outside but in fact on the inside they are different. For example, my husband and I have "identical" Dell laptops ordered at the same time and with the same features. But they came with hard drives from different manufacturers even though they are "identical." The same could be true for the hardware that controls the display. Probably more than you care to know, but just a few ideas that may help.

Regards,

Kimberly
