Why no QuickTime 6 rendering option?

I have QuickTime Pro version 6.3, but when I go to render out a QuickTime from Vegas 4d, the only QuickTime output option available is QuickTime 5. Should I be concerned about that?

Just to be sure, I uninstalled both QuickTime and Vegas, then reinstalled QuickTime first, with ALL of its options, rebooted, then reinstalled Vegas and rebooted. Still the same.

Also, when rendering out to QuickTime, I can chose MPEG4 as the video compression, but there is no MPEG4 under the audio compression. When I use the QuickTime app itself, I get MPEG4 as an option under both video and audio. I'd love to output to MPEG4 QuickTimes from Vegas and not have to do the extra step from the QuickTime app.

The Quicktime encoder was built into Vegas, so the external one won't be used. However, you can frameserve out from Vegas to your WT 6.3 encoder. You can download the framserver at www.debugmode.com. It will "render" out an AVI, then you render that AVI with your QT encoder.

You should have access to most of the QT6 codecs in Vegas (even though our plug-in says version "5").

There are exceptions (as you've found with MP4 audio) but that's a decision (or perhaps a bug) on Apple's part.
