why "real time" jerky?

OK I've taken the advice that I've received in this forum and purchased the DSE instructional by Class on Demand. EXCELLENT so far. But I have one question. Watching the video on the pan crop tool, and transitions, on the DVD motion is so smooth, When I try similar things on my computer the motion is very jerky. running a p4 3.0 with 512 ram. Am I doing something wrong?

What setting do you have the preview on? Try "Good", if you have it set higher.

Also,p something like having the waveform monitor on will slow down your frame rate.

"Simulate Device Aspect Ratio" also slows down the frame rate.
