Hi,

I created an MPEG2 file with VV3 and now i'm trying to author a DVD with Ulead DVD Workshop. Its taking for ever when i try to Make Disc... it says "Converting Video titles" and its progressing very slowly... what does this mean?? Is it RE-RENDERING????

Can anyone suggest a neat program to author DVD that has the following functions

1- motion menus and buttons
2-First Play
3-DOES NOT RE-RENDER MPEG2 FILES

COULD ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE???
THANKS!!!!

I never had this problem with DVD WS. You need to give more information, e.g., the settings for video and audio you are using to render in VV3, in order for anyone to be able to help you. I assume you checked the "do not convert compliant etc" box in DVD WS? What version of DVD WS are you using, anyway?

DVD Architect DOES do 1, 2, AND 3.

DVD WS should NOT re-render with properly rendered files.

I second the use of DVD Architect! Works for me.

Ok I render MPEG2 with Variable bit rate 8000000, 4800000,2000000.... and 10bit... these are the settings i change after chosing the default DVD NTSC template.

then i render with vv3... then i import in DVD WS 1.0 and there is no place for any settings.. i just followed the steps and clicked on make disc.. then it takes looooooong time... it goes to 50% in 1 sec.. then goes slowwwwwwwwwwwwly 1% increase per min or more...

oh yah the only question i chose is when it asks... for quality of dvd... options were like best 8000kbps .. fairly good 6000kbps and low quality 4000kbps... i chose the fairly... why should i chose this when i already chose that in the options in VV3... i did the bit rate selection in vv3 so i should not chose that again..

Can you help me now?

Thanks so much in advance|!!

I've started to play with DVD Archetect (but don't have my burner yet). Been making "miniDVD"s. Haven't seen that probem yet. But I had been working with DVD COmplete from Dazzle (I also use theri external digitizer for capturing some times).

Things work great there too. It does take a few minutes for it to "prepare" the files I want to put in the project - but nothing as long as rendering would be. I have found that it takes this time to check the file to make sure it is DVD compliant. - when it says it is - I push on. Not too shabby.

So - yes - there are other applications available for what you are looking for. Personally, I would stick with SoFo Products.

I just tried the DVD Architect, and it solved all my problems except one... maybe its possible... I want all my chapters to be shown in button animated windows in main menu. The whole video i want to burn is in one file.. I made chapters and it all work but its only putting one animated button for teh whole file... how can i have more visual animated buttons for different chapters?????

Can anyone help me out here???
Thanks so much!!!

There's two solutions I know of to the DVWS re-rendering problem....

1. Download and install the 1.3 update patch - this adds a 'do not re-encode compliant files' tick box at the 'make disc' stage.

2. In DVDWS 1.0, if you create a custom 'make disc' template and set the video bitrate to be higher than the source files (and - from memory - the audio to be the same bitrate) then normally it won't re-encode. Note that the bitrate value that VV writes into the MPEG headers (which is what DVDWS looks at) is the peak bitrate value for VBR.

Create a Sub-menu from the Main Menu and make thumbnails for each chapter. See excellent tutorial;
