Do you have Vegas 4.0d? We fixed a 4.0.0 bug that caused problems with reading AE-generated files over 2gb.

Note to SonyEPM:

Yeah, I'm using Vegas 4.0d and still having the problem. Perhaps the bug is still buzzing around in the code somewhere ... or I'm missing something ...

Any other suggestions???

It must be connected with the type of avi you've produced - I have several "straight DV" avis over 12Gb which drop straight in no problemo.

Thanks much for your input. I guess I'm in over my head because I'm not sure what you mean by "it must be connected with the type of avi you've produced". To clarify, I added effects in Particle Illusion on a still photo. I then rendered it to an uncompressed avi file; the result being over 2 gigs of info. I then tried to import it into Vegas 4.0d, but Vegas would not accept it. I don't know how to "connect" it any differently.

Just a thought here, but are you using Windows 98 ?

I just meant ther are different codecs used in generating avis - along the same lines as the mentioned problem with AE generated avis.

I don't know why the size would prevent it from being used in Vegas, unless, as pete_h alluded to, it's an OS related issue.

Good luck.

I read 28 GB files into Vegas (d) all the time with no problem.

Thank you.
