Wierd V7 / V8 problem

I thought I knew what was going on, see my several comments about nested vegs. Well darn it all the problem is way more interesting.
On one PC I run 7.0d and the other 7.0e. Projects opens fine on both.
Unless they contain a nested veg.
V7.0d locks up trying to open a veg that contains a nested V7.0e project. When this happens things get wierd. Task manager shows two instances of Vegas70.exe running but only one instance of the process.
I can get around this by opening the V7.0e project that's being nested in V7.0d and saving it. Then the main project can open in V7.0d. And remarkably enough Vegas 8 cannot open the V7 project if it contains a nested V7.0e project.

So the veg files are not the same between V7.0d and V7.0e in some very subtle way, just enough to cause however nesting is handled to lock up (not crash though). That this also messes up V8 could be significant.

I've been saying this for a while now.

7d is probably the last really stable version of Vegas before it started with major crash episodes. When 7e came, I started having all sorts of crash problems for example, with M2T's from HDVsplit. These problems were not corrected and got passed on to the original 8 version.

And the major difference between 7d and 7e.... they added avchd render. And it's my personal opinion that this addition is at the root of some if not most of the problems we are having now.

I am no expert into this, but I think you could be right about this, Blink.
