Will not import videos

I cannot get any video files to import. I have tried mpg and AVCHD. When I drag over the file, a red circle with a line across shows! Pictures do import. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I see this is your fist post so I gotta ask;

Is this a trial version or a hacked copy of Vegas? Neither one of these will contain the mpeg encoders.

This is the real program that I purchased, I've been using the program since March with no problems.

Thinking about it, I don't think I've done any video editing since I updated to 8.1, if that makes a difference?

Now it is working...after 10 times of opening it! Strange?
