Will V V3 import Cinepak/Radius

I'm going to pose my previous post in a different manner....have 2 avi files, 720x480. Both are the same except I used Aspect Ratio Locked on 1 file, Aspect Ratio Not Locked on the other...used Cinepak/Radius codec....when I import either file as source footage, some graphics...circles...that are a part of the footage are "squished" in making the circle look like ovals....When I set up the project, I selected NTSC DV....anybody know how to maintain the aspect of the source footage...I really need help on this...tying to finish a project...
Thanks - David Bird

1) Vegas can import Cinepak, but it isn't the greatest quality compressor. You'd be better off using uncompressed (yes, the file size will be bigger, but it'll be super-clean).

2) How is Vegas interpretting the pixel aspect ratio of this file (event>properties>media.pixel aspect ratio)? Probably as .9091? Try changing the media properties to 1.0 (unless you know for sure the creation app rendered it with the correct D1/DV PAR)

SonicEPM -
I was just replying on a previous post DavidBird (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=130029)
- i think were both in the same boat with what we are trying to do.

What we would like to do is import footage in Vegas created in a graphics generation program - Like Flash 5 or Swish 2 (with both export .avi files) We want the final output to be NTSC DV (maybe even intermix with some NTSC DV footage in project).

First problem we had was getting exported .avi to play right in vegas (see my other post listed above)

Think we got that problem fixed -
Now, we would like to know the best composition settings to create the flash/swish avi files for import. (to prevent distortion, choppy frames etc)

Example:
If i'm creating a Flash composition - what project setting should i choose if i plan on exporting it as avi, then importing it into Vegas Comp with NTSC DV settings?
Frame Rate:?
Canvas size/dimensions: 655x480 ??
etc..

Superterrific if you or any1 could provide some advice on this!
thanks!
