Win10 & VegasPro23: PSA

Something_Something wrote on 11/27/2025, 3:31 AM

Just a short PSA.
Ultra short: so far, Vegas Pro 23-v302 works on Win10Pro, for many of the usual main features, and also works with all the AI i tried including upscaling, sharpen, dehaze.  Renders fine. Zero crashes.

Tried trial first, and was impressed on how snappy it all was compared to my VegasPro17, and no more audio device issues after each render.
AI worked well. So I bought it shortly thereafter.

Longer Version:
VegasPro23 is shown as Win11 OS only.
Not all of us are delighted with Win11.
Linux is exponentially getting more users, now especially with Gaming Bazzite distro out there.  Dual Boot anyone?

Filed a ticket with Magix on Nov 18, asking if most features would work or if major architecture change.
No reply to date.

To conclude: Win10 appears 'not supported" so will have to be careful with backing up my install before any future updates.
Believe with perm. licence you get updates for your current bought version?

Posting this for any other Win10Pro users (home version - can't say).

Should clarify, am not a superuser, so many things not tested. So maybe issue somewhere? But basics so far and new AI that i tested all worked. Even the AI Scale, just had to read that if add as effect, it scales to match your project settings and yes it worked.

There are other posts on Win10. Basically it should work perfectly but it's not included as a supported OS because MS no longer support it.

I currently still in Win10, and so far still ok...
Although I wonder actually, whether to up to Win11, or keep staying.

You might feel that, but the latest figures I have seen suggest Windows has about 70% of desktop market, and Linux has about 3-4%. If I was a small development team with a limited budget I know where my focus would be.

Magix have stated in this forum that they felt unable to support an OS that is itself no longer supported which, whilst disappointing, is very understandable. They also said that VP23 should still work on W10, they just would not guarantee it. Experience from many users is that it does indeed seem to work Ok on W10.
