Window Media Player causes frustration as a work tool

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Tell me how to reset wmp to hug movie when launched.

No matter what I do, movie will not open at 100%....like they do in all other players.

They open at some random size with black areas around the movie.

I don’t want any black around my movie

Just default skin at exact size of MOVIE!!!!?????
no geeky skin nooooo visualizations

only true size of movie upon launch

I tried all the options "fit video to ---- and "fit movie to----"

video size = 100% works fine (for me anyway)

tools/options/performance/DVsettings - slide all the way to right/large
also...view/zoom/fit to window, or at least 100%, depends on your video

thanks for trying to help

unfortuatly none of these tips work

what has happened is some how to player got resized to an akward dimension
leaving it disproportionatly taller than wider.

I even updated to wmp 9 to try and default everything. no go

I just need to get it back to the correct demensions

100% ect do not work

Just to make sure-- you've set the project dimensions correctly, yes? The only time that I've had a similar problem is when I'd add titles, etc. to a project-- the titles default to 655 X 480, and I'd end up with black edges... although they'd ultimately crop out due to overscan.

Soory about the confusion

no my movies are fine

I open in QT>qt displays the dimension of the movie

i open in real> real displays the dimension of the movie

I open in wmp> the is a diporpotionate black area around the vidio and I cant make wmp displat the move at 100% with no black around it.

or even 100% at all for tha matter...when i resize it stays porpotioatly -wrong

Have you turned off the other video controls (eq, video settings, etc)?

view >now playing tools >show equalizer and settings

Maybe your decoder is set incorrectly... Let's use the original Media Player and change the decoding options...

First of all, right click on a on one of your avi files and select Properties from the menu, this should open up the properties dialog for the file. Then click on the "Change..." button to change how the file is opened. Then in the Open With dialog box select "Browse..." and find the file mplayer2.exe (It should be on drive C:\Program Files in the folder Windows Media Player) Select the file and click "Open". Then "OK" and again "OK". Now double click the avi file again to open it up... It will now open it using the clean version of Windows Media Player.

One more change... In Windows Media Player select from the menu File select Properties, then click on the Advanced tab. If it's a DV file you should see "DV Video Decoder" listed in the "Filters in use" list... Select "DV Video Decoder" and then click on Properties. Click on the "Full" radio button, and select the check box "Save as Default" now click "OK" and then "Close" Quit Windows Media Player and double click on the avi file again. This should solve your problem.
