I believe that version 8 is the first version supported by Vista.

Check the Vista forum here.

As far as I remember, however, there have been several issues with Vista - and they might not all have been improved in VMS ver. 8's updates.

Please also note that several of your plugins etc. (and many other programs as well) might not work 100% under Vista.

Of course it really depends on how- and which parts of Vegas you use - but generally I would say that changing to Vista is kind of asking for trouble - and quite unnecessary trouble, that is, as the benefits from changing to Vista are small.

I have 5 computers running rock stable with good old XP - and have no intention to change to anything before Windows 7 SP1 has been available for some months :-) - and then I will change one of the least significant machines first - not my Head Machine.

64-bit is not officially supported by Vegas in any version. I tried to submit a tech support question and was spanked and told I was a bad boy for using 64-bit.

Not everyone has the option to use XP and Vista has been out for a good long while. It's time for Vegas to catch up software wise and support Vista and 64-bit editions of OSs.

Some other things that would be nice are CUDA support and optimizations for i7 processors to utilize the 8 available threads.
