I'm using Vegas Movie Studio 9b with Windows 7 64-bit with no problems. You might want to read the thread below that discusses a work-around to avoid Vegas crashing when rendering certain file formats. I was getting crashes every time I tried to render AVCHD files and this fix corrected the problem. I think there is a different fix that has been discussed here when using the 32-bit version of Win 7, but I don't have a link for the discussion.

You're welcome and I should have added that I am using the Platinum version of VMS 9b.

I have VMS Platinum 9.0b and Windows 7 64 bit. For me on this system VMS cannot capture or edit DV. It works fine with AVCHD and Mpg2, but I very strongly suspect that the Sony DV codec is broken. I have tested a variety of other editors and they have no problems whatsoever with DV. I notified Sony tech support of the problem two weeks ago but have had no response.

I have to say, I also have VMS Platinum 9.0b and Windows 7 64 bit and have just loaded about 10 hours of assorted DV tape video. I had no trouble with editing or rendering to DVD.

Hi Davmol, I've been looking for someone running similar specs to try and find why the Sony DV codec is not working on my system (and that's the only thing not working) - Can you give me some more details of your system so that I can try and track where the problem is? I'm running an i7 860 2.8, EVGA P55 Mobo, GeForce 240XFX, 8/gb RAM, Thanks. (comments from anyone else also welcome).

Hi Rainer, I have an HP desktop. W7 64 home premium, i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz, 4GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GE220. I hope I'm not stating the obvious, but when I first tried, I was getting nowhere. It took a while to realise I was trying to 'Import Media' instead of 'Capture Video'. When I then did capture video, it walked me through it and had no trouble since.

Hi Davmol, thanks. I've been running Vegas happily on XP for years, so its nothing obvious. Now looks like it could be a mobo issue. I'll let everyone know when its fixed.

Not the mobo. Also covered in another topic, but the gist is SD works on my mobo if you don't enable ahci in BIOS before installing windows (and I'm quitting while I'm ahead, not game to try enabling it after).

I've been using Sony Vegas for several years and am still using Vegas 8 . . . bought a Windows 7 HP desktop before Christmas and have created quite a few projects with absolutely no problems at all . . . I love it!
