Windows 98SE Tuning

I've installed Vegas 4.0 and I'm preparing to begin using it. Sadly enough, I'm still running Windows 98SE. Does anybody have any tuning tips to optimize my system? I'm aware of the Win 98 Speedtweaks document on videoguys.com, and I've adjusted most of my system settings accordingly. I've also taken tips from the Sonic Foundry Knowledge Base Article "Vegas Capturing Video" No. 1418.

Any other ideas?

The David La Borde article over at Videoguys is about as good as it gets---Your final tweak should be to get Windows XP Professional---Just kidding---I run Vegas on a 98 machine and it works fine.

That is the three main software i was using to optimize my Win98Se computer.

Windows 98 Lite is one of the best software i have been using ever. It goes deeply into the pores of Windows 98(SE), it can remove things that you dont want in your system. I havnt seen any other software that does the job as good as this one.

FixIt, is another good software, what i uses this software to, is to clean up the registry in Windows 98(SE), also to defrag the registry. As well as defrag the HD.

Cacheman, is a memory utilities, which is totally free of use, i have to admit it, its just the best (my opinion tho). You can control the cachememory in Windows, you can adjust the read-ahead-cache, you can also set the speed of the CD-Rom, which is quite neat sometimes. After using programs, like Adobe, PsP, Word, Excel or any other program, Windows98 have amemory leak which have trouble to give back all the free memory to the system, here you can use cacheman to free up the memory to the system, i always use this software when im going to do gaming when i need as much memory available as possible.
