Windows Media 8

When I render to *.WMV with VV, it this windows media 8 or 7? If 7, is there a codec to download from MS to render to this format, or do you have to render to avi and then use the MS encoder program to get there?

That asked, is there really that big of a difference between the two?

If you go into Custom before rendering you can select either version 7 or 8. I've been able to render to both straight from Vegas. The major difference is that some older media players can't handle version 8, but i haven't had anyone who's tried to view my version 8 files complain about it yet. I believe Windows Media Player 6 and above will offer to automatically upgrade to the new codes when necessary.
