Windows Movie Maker 2 & VV

Has anyone been brave enough to install the beta version of Windows Movie Maker 2? Does it have any effect (good or - more likely - ill) on Vegas Video 3?

I'm tempted to look at it, as it has a pile of new features (including print to tape, lots of transitions, good titling). But it apparently doesn't have an uninstall - Microsoft says to use System Restore to get rid of it - yikes!!

Cheers

Using System Restore to uninstall anything is just asking for trouble. EVERYTHING you installed or setup after the culprit (WMM2, in this case) is uninstalled, messed up, or destroyed along with it. I'll just wait until Mickysoft gets its act together and supplies an uninstall program.

I installed it and had a quick look, out of curiosity. It doesn't seem to have affected Vegas, though I've only done editing, not captures or renders since then. With the hype, I was expecting bigger improvements. Most of the new transitions looked to be variations on wipes--just not much there.

Do you think it will impede on the Vegas market. I'm aiming my services more at non industry end users. I wonder if XP owners will not be able to do what I do in Vegas.

I think if you had a look you'd have no worries. :) It is to VideoFactory what VideoFactory is to Vegas. My own thought after looking at it was that it might convince more people to play with video on their computers but they would quickly want something more, which could only help Vegas. If your clients become familiar with this Movie Maker 2 thing then I think they'll only be more impressed at what you can create with Vegas, having developed some understanding of what's involved.
