Windows Secondary Display Full Screen Preview

I have a Matrox G550 video card with a dual monitor setup. Up until now, I've had no problems with Vegas 6c's full screen preview. Vegas no longer sees an external monitor for preview. Going to Preferences>Preview Devices shows the device unavailable and all the choices grayed out. But, the dual monitor setup works fine for everything else but the external monitor preview.

The only thing that I can think of is I had to replace the Matrox driver. But I can't say for sure this is when the problem began.

Should I reinstall Vegas? Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you change anything? How is Windows handling the dual screens? The 2nd screen might not be being seen a "second" one, but rather as a continuation of the first.

There's only 2 things I recall changing on my PC. One, I installed a Logitech webcam for trial but have since disabled it from loading. Second, as I mentioned, I removed the Matrox G550 driver and installed the latest one.

Windows is handling the dual screens just as I think it should. Both monitors can be identified in Display Settings as numbers 1 and 2. I can drag all windows back and forth between the monitors. Vegas windows can also be moved from screen to screen. But as I said, it's just the Preview in Vegas that doesn't recognize the external device.

I don't have the G550 (got a Parhelia). Does it come with the "Power Desk"? There are a few different settings in that. The one I use is "2 displays, Independent mode". That leaves the task bar on monitor 1, but everything else can be moved around as needed.

Does the G550 come with that or similar?

I can't think of any reason why it should work, but not work. No "defect" reason, anyway.

Thanks GenJerDan. I determined the problem didn't appear until I installed the Matrox driver 5.95.005. I removed it and installed 5.93.9 and preview works again. I don't know if the problem is with the most current Matrox driver or was it just that I reinstalled it. In any event, I'm sure glad it's working again.

I'm familiar with Power Desk and its settings. I'm also using independent mode. I've also moved my task bar to monitor 2. You just simply unlock it and drag it to the other monitor.

Ah.

I've had trouble with "latest" drivers & such from them, too. I had to install the last one twice before everything worked properly.

I think it might be a case of having to make absolutely sure the old one is completely gone, not a trace left anywhere, but I've no way to be sure. If that's the case, they've got a problem with the uninstall/update portion of the software.
