Windows Vista Update screwed Network Rendering

Hi

Anyone else seen a Windows Update on 10th march 2009 kill Network Rendering?

I select Render using Network Computers, click Save and the Network Rendering dialog pops up but then it complains I might be trying to run two instances of the network rendering service. I get problems even if I ensure the service is not running beforehand.

I first tried uninstalling and re-installing Vegas Pro 8.0c - no improvement.

Rolling back my Windows Update to 9th March solves the problem.

I have seen this on two seperate machines, and on the 11th March I got the same problem after another Windows Update.

Cheers
Russell

could be the 11th update was the 10th+11th.

to find out what update takes some work: find out what updates were installed @ that timeframe, then remove them 1 by 1, then when you get it working, don't install that one, install the others. You can tell MS update to ignore an update perminitly.

updates are in c:\windows\$NtUninstallKBxxxxxx$

xxxxxx = update #.
