I've been running SP2 for a long long time now. No issues at all.

no problems here with vegas, but there are some issues with firewire that I am having that I did not have before sp2. There are also some network issues that occur on ocassion that I cannot seem to pin down, but I do not know if they are sp2 related or not.

No issues with SP-2. If you have the Matrox Parhelia video card you must have .net 1.1 and not 2.0. The card is designed to run the dual monitor stuff with .net 1.1. I found that out the hard way.

I have it on a new computer. It is much more intrusive and insistent on doing various security things. If you are thinking about upgrading an existing computer, I wouldn't bother. I was forced to upgrade my daughter's college laptop, in order for her to use campus security software (which they require) and while the upgrade went smoothly enough, it took forever to strip out all the JUNK that SP2 added. I tend to be pretty nuts about eliminating unnecessary background processes, and I don't like computers that suddenly update themselves.

As far as Vegas goes, like everyone else said, no problem.

Unless you have a reason to upgrade, or are being forced to do so, don't bother. There is no upside, at least not in the way of neat new features or faster performance, or anything useful like that.

I've been holding out too. I have been waiting to update to SP2 (won't call it an upgrade)
Haven't got the new AE7 yet but was installing the demo and it says

"This version is not supported you need SP2" --or words to that effect.

I have some extensions for Dreamweaver that are not working right and one of the debug suggestions is to update to SP2 --

So I am finally getting that feeling that maybe it is time. I have also struggled with teh delayed write problems with my external Maxtor one touch. So I guess I can try the SP2 fixes for those problems now that I have tried all the SP1 fixes.

I had to reinstall Windows a few months ago (memory problem) and probably should have gone all the way to SP2 then but didnt want to complicate things more than needed.

I keep waiting for a slow period when I am not in the middle of some project to do it so if it goes poorly I wont get too far behind. But, too much going on and too afraid to risk it.

If you go to SP2, you should disconnect all external drives before upgrading.

Sp2 had two issues.

1) DSL modems had a problem
2) Firewire devices ran slower

DSK drivers have been rewritten to compensate. Some people had erased sp2 driver files and replaced the older sp1 files to drive firewire and it worked like a charm.

I am unaware of any other issues inolving xp sp2.
