.wma format

I am a new user of Vegas as of about 5 days ago. I am by no means an expert video producer, but have found Vegas to be an incredible program.

I have what might be a very simple, and to some people probably a very dumb question. I am in the process of creating a video slideshow for my nephew's first birthday. I want to add music to the show. Instead of taking the music directly from the CD I first copied the songs to Window's Media Player. Seemed easier that way. Now I am wondering what's going to happen to the audio when I render my project. I am planning on rendering the project and then using DVD Architect to put it on DVD. Will I be okay keeping the audio file format as .wma or do I need to convert it to a .wav file first? If I need to convert it, how do I do this?

Thank you,
Mark

If you can, just convert the .wma to .wav outside of Vegas. Then, add it as an audio track before you render. That way, when you render as an MPEG, DVDA will automatically rerender the sound to AC-3. If you can't convert the .wma to .wav, you should get a program from the Net or your local software store that can.

No need to convert it, just drag the wma file straight onto the Vegas timeline.

Don't convert to the .wma format at all. In Vegas, goto the file menu, select extract. Choose your cdrom, pick the song, and directly extract to the .wav format in Vegas. This will put the file into the media pool. goto the media pool and drag and drop the file to the timeline.

Yes, just rip straight to .wav again from the CD into Vegas as Rednroll suggests. Otherwise you'll just end up putting the .wma file through another conversion process and degrade the sound that much more.
