yOU HAVE TO GO INTO THE CUSTOM MENU, after you select render as.. If you are going to render it as an mpg1, it will automatically load the correct template.

Hi 2me2u.

I do go into the custom menu, but there isn't a choice for changing the pixel aspect ratio. I do see an option for changing the pixel aspect ratio when I try to render as MOV or MPEG1 or MPGE2, but not WMV.

Does anyone else have the ability to change this setting when trying to customize a template for WMV?

Thanks,
Ron

I don't think WMV allows any pixel aspect ratios other than 1.0
Why do you want something different?

My project properties are set to NTSC DV. My project has two target formats upon completion - TV and PC. I can render to an AVI file using the NTSC DV preset and it looks great. When I render to WMV, the video is squished horrizontally a little, so my video seems taller.

I get the same squished results when I render to a MOV file if the Pixel Aspect Ratio is set to 1.0. But if I change it to .9091, my MOV file looks correct.

With .WM or other formats with a 1.0 PAR, set the Vegas preview to "Display square pixels", and make any adjustments before rendering.

SonicEPM,

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

it's usually not much of an issue, because when you capture DV video at 720x480 and then render to WMV at something like 320x240, 400x300, or 640x480, your video will be squeezed horizontally almost just the right amount to make things look right on a computer screen.
