wmv render to avi ?

I'm stuck with a less than desirable edit situation.
I have been given material in .WMV(9) format 320x240x24 to edit for a presentation to be projected on an 8ft x 8ft screen.
Would there be any advantage in rendering this file out to AVI prior to editing?
Also, are there any other considerations/project settings when the output is to be projected?

That is gonna look like twenty pounds of something in a ten pound sack projected on an eight foot screen no matter what you do to it. No need to render to AVI before editing. Render to AVI after and just play it from the computer. At least you won't be recompressing it again. Maybe I'm way off and someone here has a miracle solution. If that's the case, at least you got a bump.

There is no miracle. It's gonna look like crap. Remember, every time you double the dimensions you quadruple the area you're trying to cover.

Best bet is to track down the original video and not try to make something out of nothing.
